Lorne M. Trottier, CM (born 15 June 1948) is a co-founder of Matrox, a computer corporation that specializes in computer graphics. Born in Montreal, Quebec, Trottier graduated from Baron Byng High School and thereafter received a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering in 1970 and a Masters of Engineering in the same field in 1973 both from McGill University. The Lorne M. Trottier building at McGill was funded in part by his donations. For his philanthropy McGill recently bestowed upon him an honorary Doctorate of Science, he was awarded the Quebec government's Prix Lionel-Boulet and in 2006, he was made a Member of the Order of Canada[1].
