It is 172 km in length with area of drainage basin 5,270 km². It starts in north of Perm Krai, near the border with Komi Republic, in Cherdynsky District, to the north of village Chepets. River freezes up in the early November and stays under the ice until the end of April. There are many swamps near the river. In 1785 – 1822 there was constructed Northern Catherine Canal, that connected South Keltma with North Keltma through river Dzhurich. It acted only 16 years.
