(June 2008) Ghazaliyah is a region that taking a place in the northwest of Baghdad City, the capital of Iraq. Ghazaliyah consist mainly of six major streets that all end into the farms that formerly belonged to Odai Hussain, the son of Saddam Hussain. Ghazaliyah was built in the mid 1980s when Saddam Hussain decided to give this region for the Iraqi army chiefs. Ghazaliyah is one of the regions that forms the western boundary of Baghdad. To the north of Ghazaliyah is Shu'lla, to the east is El Adil, to the south is Khadrah, and to the west is Abo Ghraib. Ghazaliyah is characterized by the presence of Sunni Muslims with some Shea, Christians and others. During the war of 2003, Ghazaliyah was the scene of many battles.[citation needed] In 2006, the She'a and Christians were forced to leave their houses in Ghazaliyah.
