It is located in the province of Southern Finland and is part of the Uusimaa region. The municipality has a population of 6,102 (31 January 2011)[2] and covers an area of 266.12 square kilometres (102.75 sq mi) of which 24.96 km2 (9.64 sq mi) is water.[1] The population density is 25.3 inhabitants per square kilometre (66 /sq mi). The municipality is bilingual with the majority being Finnish and the minority Swedish-speakers.
